Pirjo Leppänen
Pirjo Leppänen is a Finnish soprano.
Her roles include Gilda (Verdi: Rigoletto), Adina (Donizetti: L'elisir d'amore), Micaëla (Bizet: Carmen), Donna Anna (Mozart: Don Giovanni), Pamina (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte) and Violetta (Verdi: La Traviata).
She has obtained a vast music education, beginning in childhood with the violin, continuing with the oboe and eventually leading to two highest diplomas (oboe and voice) in the Sibelius Academy (Helsinki). Ms. Leppänen continued to work with professor Irina Gavrilovici in Vienna to further improve her voice and new repertoire.
Having worked extensively as an oboe player for more than twenty years, Ms. Leppänen is now pursuing singing with the same enthusiasm and bringing all her superb musicianship to the operatic stage.
She has extraordinary prima vista skills and is fluent in Italian, French, Russian, German, English, Swedish and Finnish languages.
